Running America - 6.21.08

Running America

Beginning on June 21, 2008, elite athletes Marshall Ulrich and Charlie Engle will embark on a journey few have ever attempted, yet alone completed. Ulrich and Engle will set out on a trans-continental race across America, coined “Running America“.

The underlying goal set by Ulrich and Engle is to raise money for charities focused on providing better living conditions for people locally and abroad whose lives have fallen upon difficult times. One of those charities is Feeding Families, a non-profit organization devoted to proving foot to millions of people across America who might otherwise go hungry.

Should Running America be completed within 45 days, Ulrich and Engle will conquer a world record. This feat will require Ulrich and Engle to run almost 70 miles per day for 45 consecutive days! Starting in San Francisco, California on June 21st, these two men will hit the pavement, rain or shine, despite the presence of plenty of aches and pains, to raise awareness for those without a voice - the poor, hungry and unhealthy. If all goes as planned, Ulrich and Engle will arrive in New York, on July 4, 2008, just in time to celebrate America’s Independence Day.

KillerSocks.com Discovers ENGO

At one time considered a mere accessory to a person’s favorite pair of shoes, socks have become an essential ingredient in the pursuit of comfort and performance. From socks infused with silver, touting anti-microbial properties, to those with individual toe slots to prevent blisters & save toenails, KillerSocks.com has you covered. At least your feet, that is…

Killersocks.com was launched in 2007 to provide active people with the best selection of high performance socks around. As the business expanded to include foot care accessories, KillerSocks.com recently introduced ENGO Blister Prevention Patches as the latest ingredient in an effort to help active individuals remain comfortable and blister-free.

Did you know??

Petroleum-based lotions and other products used to keep the skin soft and blister-free may actually clog fibers, reducing sock breathability which is essential for effective moisture transfer and blister prevention.

Be well prepared for your upcoming adventures. Your feet with thank you!

Marathon Des Sables Wrap Up

April 8th, 2008

What do six days and 151 agonizing miles of desert terrain have in common? The Marathon Des Sables (MDS) is an annual ultra-endurance event held in the south Moroccan desert. Adding to the extreme heat, participants are required to carry their own food and equipment for the entire event (excluding water, which is available in great abundance by the race organizers and tents).  I bet you’re thinking…”sign me up!” Maybe not…

For 803 competitors, MDS means business; proving that our minds are our greatest enemies. That determination supersedes physical limits like exhaustion, pain and distance. 69 of those competitors hail from the Dreamchasers Outdoor Adventure Club; the official MDS representative for the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

Congratulations to all Marathon Des Sables participants and thanks to race organizers and sponsors.

Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, manufacturer of ENGO Blister Prevention Patches, proudly supports the endeavors of athletes around the world; providing the opportunity for everyone to enjoy a blister-free experience. Run far and remain blister-free! Visit www.GoENGO.com or call (866) 795-0057.
