What do six days and 151 agonizing miles of desert terrain have in common? The Marathon Des Sables (MDS) is an annual ultra-endurance event held in the south Moroccan desert. Adding to the extreme heat, participants are required to carry their own food and equipment for the entire event (excluding water, which is available in great abundance by the race organizers and tents).  I bet you’re thinking…”sign me up!” Maybe not…

 For 803 competitors, MDS means business; proving that our minds are our greatest enemies. That determination supersedes physical limits like exhaustion, pain and distance. 69 of those competitors hail from the Dreamchasers Outdoor Adventure Club; the official MDS representative for the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
