Xtreme Everest Team Update
It’s been awhile since we’ve received updates on the Caudwell Xtreme Everest Expedition. For anyone unfamiliar with this medical expedition, please take a moment to check it out.
In summary, a group of medical professionals and hundreds of volunteers recently embarked on a journey through the Himalayas to the summit of Mt. Everest. Their goal has been to learn about the effects of extreme altitude and human performance on hypoxia (low oxygen levels). The resulting conditions can be fatal, and it is the teams goal to bring this valuable research back to the labs for analysis. The ultimate goal is to learn how to improve the care and outcome of critically ill patients with hypoxia and similar conditions.

Tamarack Habilitation Technologies Inc. was invited to sponsor the expedition through product sponsorship with our ENGO Blister Prevention Patches. In the photo (above), one of the members of the Xtreme Everest team posed with her ENGO package while applying the patches to her mountain boots. We’re pleased to report the extremely cold and dry conditions in the Himalayas had no negative effect on the performance of the product. ENGO patches have been tested to their limits from the lowest & warmest regions of the earth (temperatures exceeding 120 degrees F.) to the highest mountain tops (with sub-zero temperatures).
As the expedition wraps up over the next few months, it’s likely you will hear about the experiments and journey on numerous television programs. The BBC followed this event closely; the earliest video program is expected for release later this year.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Extreme Everest project!
